Exchange Direct Push on Windows Mobile 5

Microsoft Windows

Microsoft’s Exchange Direct Push feature on Exchange Server 2003 allows email and other Outlook data to communicate with a Windows Mobile 5 device. This system allows a company to push Outlook email, contacts, calendar and tasks out to any given number of handsets with a low total cost of ownership.

System Requirements
To utilise Exchange Direct Push you must be running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 with Service Pack 2. No third party software is required and no middleware involved. On the basis you already have Exchange 2003 this is a cost effective solution to implement from a server side perspective. More information on how Exchange Direct Push works can be found on our Technical Information page

Compatible PDA’s / devices
A wide range of handsets from several manufacturers are supported with Exchange Direct Push. These PDA’s and devices need to be running Windows Mobile 5 – to see a complete list of devices recommended by airtime manager for use with Exchange Direct Push click here

Security & Fleet Management
In terms of day to day administration, Exchange Direct Push utilises a basic web based management console for IT administrators to add and remove users as required. If a device is lost or stolen it can also be ‘killed’ remotely.

Running Costs
airtime manager offers a unique ‘one fits all’ data tariff irrespective of the solution you chose for your business. You could implement Exchange Direct Push, BlackBerry Enterprise Server or a mixture of both, and all this time relax in the knowledge that the data will cost you no more on either solution.
