Default "Get profile failed" Vodafone 3G ExpressCard

This morning I tried to connect using my 3G Broadband Express Card (Huawei) and I got a message 'Get Profile Failed'. The connection was working fine last night, so I'm assuming this is a network issue?? Well, hoping ... ;-)

Any info appreciated.

Hi Obama

What happens if you use the ExpressCard in another machine.
Also are you using the Lite version of Vodafone Mobile Connect or the full version from disc?

I have only 1 laptop available but am using the full VMC software 9.2 installed from disc.
I have looked on Vodafones site but there doesnt seem to be a more up to date version.

Have you tried reinstalling the software?
It would get rid of any bugs. After uninstalling, look in the Program Files and ensure the Vodafone folder has been completely removed.
Reboot the PC and then reinstall.

Unhappy

Ive already done what you have asked several times.
Sometimes I got errors about "driver installation failed". So I started again and again and again until it finally worked.
but I still get the same error "Get profile failed".

I have gone through this problem in another post here:
http://airtimemanager.co.uk/forum/sh...19&postcount=6

To resolve this issue, you have to enable 3 disabled services and start each one manually:

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. Double-click Services and Applications, and then double-click Services.
3. Right-click Telephony and then click Properties.
4. On the General tab, click Manual next to Startup type.
5. On the General tab, click Start under Service status, and then click OK.
6. Repeat steps 3 - 5 for the Remote Access Connection Manager Service and for the Remote Access Auto Connection Manager Service.

Hope it works for you

Default Cannot start services

MobData,

Hope you can help.

I'm running Vista Business on a Sony Vaio VGN-UX380N and i'm trying to get a Vodafone 3G USB modem to play nice with it (its a Huawei E220 model).

I'm getting the "get profile failed" error with the vodafone software even though it recognises my modem and there is service available.

I came across this post when looking for a solution and am trying to attempt what you have already suggested. However, i've run into problems.

I've started the telephony service but am unable to start the other two due to other dependancies. Having gone through the dependancies I am unable to enable:

Remote Access Connection Manager Service
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager Service
Internet Connection Sharing
Routing & Remote Access
NSI Proxy Service
NetBios Interface

I don't think that the last 2 in the list can be enabled like the other services as you have suggested.

Any idea as to what I need to do to get this modem working? I am at my wits end!!

Cheers in advance.

Hi t2lek

See if enabling the registry key as described in this thread works:
http://airtimemanager.co.uk/forum/sh...?p=219#post219

Go back into Services, check and enable Event Log Service.
Startup Type should be set to Automatic.
If the Event Log service is missing, there is probably a problem with your registry.

Check this location in your registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\Eventlog

If it is missing, export the key from a working system and import it in to your system.

Remember to backup your existing registry before completing the above task!

Please note: Playing with the Registry can be disastrous if you do not know what you are doing. I would recommend asking an IT Person to help. I do not offer any guarantees and cannot be held responsible if anything goes wrong.

Default Hi MobData

I tried adding that registry entry from another PC as it was missing from my Sony, however it would not allow me to merge the exported entry.

Is there anything else I could try? Would getting a newer USB modem work?

Cheers.
