Default Linksys Router and ExpressCard

Has anyone tried connecting the Vodafone UK 3G ExpressCard E870 card to the Linksys wireless 3G Router. The product looks great but the Linksys site says it is not a supported card.

Just wondered if this is because the card is newer than the product or if it just does not work ?

Hi Paul.Schiffer

Vodafone's Huawei E870 Expresscard is not currently supported by the Linksys Router WRT54G3G. Linksys should be releasing another update for it soon. Keep checking their site for updates.
Currently only the Vodafone Option GEO301 ExpressCard works with the WRT54G3G router.

Hope this helps

OK, thanks. I'll guess I'll just keep an eye on it.

Has anyone tested it with the Vodafone ExpressCard?

MobData

Have you had any confirmation from Linksys that they *will* be releasing a firmware update for the Huawei e870? I've submitted requests for information on this subject to Linksys, but have had no responses at all.

TIA for any information.

Hi cjm

I know they plan to soon, but no definite dates yet.
Best thing to do is keep an eye on their site.
Perhaps because the Huawei card's Plug N Play software is a problem for their router.
The Option GEO301 ExpressCard is not Plug n Play and Linksys posted an update for that first. The Option card is only available via the Corporate/Business route.

Thanks very much for the response - that's good to hear. I'll just keep an eye on the Linksys site every now and again.

Cheers!

Are the Huawei E870 and the Option GEO301 (Etna?) the new cards that can operate at up to 7.2Mbps?
