Have you tried re-installing the software?

Do this:
1. Uninstall the software and reboot
2. Delete any Vodafone folders in C:\Program Files
3. Run Regedit and delete any Vodafone folders/keys in the Local Machine and Current User.
PLEASE NOTE: messing around with your registry can cause real damage to the OS and would recommend seeking help/guidance from an IT person. If you dont understand task 3, dont bother carrying it out.
4. Reboot your computer
5. If that fails, the original card profiles might still be resident in the c:\documents and settings\username\application data(hidden)\vodafone. I would advise that you delete all the folders with in this folder.
6. Reboot and install the Vodafone mobile connect software again

Hi Jor-El

I tried what you suggested but it still has not solved the problem.

Any other ideas? There must be another hidden location for Vodafone files if its still popping up with the same error.

This is unusual. I would recommend the following:

1. Go to View Network Connections.
Delete any Vodafone Dial up connections.
Uninstall and reinstall the software

2 . What version of VMC are you using?
Try installing the latest version 9.2 from here:
http://www.business.vodafone.com/sit.../p_summary.jsp

It should override the profile setup as it doesnt require any.
Let me know how this goes!

Thumbs down

MobData

I tried what you suggested and had to download the new version VMC 9.2.
It installed fine (excellent!), but wouldnt connect (ahhhhh!).
Now I get a similar error "Get profile failed" when I try to connect.
It seems to still be looking for a profile.
Thanks for your help so far.

Default Get profile failed with VMC 9.2

Ive had this before with VMC 9.2.

To resolve this issue, you have to enable 3 disabled services and start each one manually:

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. Double-click Services and Applications, and then double-click Services.
3. Right-click Telephony and then click Properties.
4. On the General tab, click Manual next to Startup type.
5. On the General tab, click Start under Service status, and then click OK.
6. Repeat steps 3 - 5 for the Remote Access Connection Manager Service and for the Remote Access Auto Connection Manager Service.

This card is driving my crazy.
Ive managed to get all services working except the Remote Access Auto Connection Manager Service.
I get the above error.
I tried rebooting and trying again, but its the same.

Go back into Services, check and enable Event Log Service.
Startup Type should be set to Automatic.
If the Event Log service is missing, there is probably a problem with your registry.

Check this location in your registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\Eventlog

If it is missing, export the key from a working system and import it in to your system.

Remember to backup your existing registry before completing the above task!

Please note: Playing with the Registry can be disastrous if you do not know what you are doing. I would recommend asking an IT Person to help. I do not offer any guarantees and cannot be held responsible if anything goes wrong.

It works!
WOW, after all that. Didnt have to mess with the registry at all.
Just enabled the Event log service and it connected straight away.
Many thanks MobData.
