Default USB stick not letting me connect to my network

Ive just installed this USB Modem software and it works fine. when I remove the modem I cant connect to my network and get no IP when I ping my router.
Connecting via WLAN fails too.
Ive rebooted my computer without the mode and am getting no where.
Is this a common problem?
BTW im using Dell Vista ultimate.

Are you trying to connect to a corporate network using a ethernet cable?

This isnt a common problem and cant say Ive come across this before.
Are you able to connect to your intranet if you have one?
Also can you email other people inside and outside your domain?
Can you print to another network printer?

I would make sure the gateway IP stack is setup correcty on your ethernet card.
Also ensure the firewall is setup correctly and your IPCONFIG in command prompt matches that of another users PC.

I think the gateway stack lead was a good one – thanks for that. I’ve just done the following and I can now connect to my lan. Not tried the 3g stick yet, but am assuming it will be ok. If you don’t hear from me, it works.
“Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
Reboot the machine.”

Thanks for your help.
