Default Facebook not working

Firstly I think the usb modem I have is great. However, no matter how hard I try, even after having content control lifted, I cannot connect to Facebook, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, MIRC or any chat sites.
I have tried the modem on another laptop and am still the same problem.
I get good 3g signal and can browse the web fine. My family are all on MSN and Yahoo but cant talk to them while away. Has anybody got any suggestions please.

Have you tried refreshing the service on your SIM?
Place the SIM into a phone, wait for Vodafone to display on the screen,
• Perform a manual network selection (Select a non-Vodafone network first, then repeat and choose Vodafone)
• If possible try connecting to Vodafone Live on the phone to confirm 3G is working
• Reinsert the SIM into the modem and try connecting again

You may benefit by specifying DNS addresses, or setting the MTU to 1300.
For DNS:
Go to Settings in the dashboard and select APN.
Select Manual APN and against Access Point enter internet, for username enter web and password enter web.
A little further down the page are boxes labelled DNS1 and DNS2. In the first enter 212.73.32.3 and in the second 212.73.32.67 then OK your way out of that page, reconnect and test.

One modem which takes exception to this rule is the 3G USB E272. The Firmware/Software needs to be upgraded, otherwise the settings you set for DNS will be ignored because of a VMC Lite issue on that modem.

Let me know if this works for you and if you need to upgrade the modem firmware if you are using the E272.

To change the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit), you can download any free utility from the web.

Cool

Depending on which version of VMC u r using the issue could have something to do with optimisation. Just follow the below procedure.

VMC 9.2 - 9.3 optimisation
MAKE SURE VMC IS NOT RUNING IN THE SYSTEM TRYA
To remove optimisation for 9.2 go to start - control panel - Add\remove find VMC click change, go through wizard and select modify – then optimisation and choose “this feature will not be available” and go through the install, restart computer and relaunch VMC

easy
