Products
  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for Microsoft® Exchange

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server versions 4.1.3 to 5.0 for Microsoft® Exchange
  • Microsoft® Exchange Server® version 2007

Overview

All tasks should be performed while logged into the BlackBerry Enterprise Server using the Windows account (for example, BESAdmin). This procedure is supported on BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1.3 or later.
  1. To download the Microsoft Exchange Server Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) Client and Collaboration Data Objects version 1.2.1, please see Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 or visit the Microsoft Download Center and search for "MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1".
    • Filename of download: ExchangeMapiCdo.EXE
  2. Stop all BlackBerry Enterprise Server services. The services can be located by navigating to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
  3. From the Add or Remove Programs application in Control Panel, remove the Microsoft Exchange 2003 Management Tools.
    1. Microsoft Exchange can sometimes still appear in the Add/Remove Programs application after the removal, but the following steps take this into account.
  4. Search the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for any remaining CDO.dll and MAPI32.dll files and rename them to CDO.old and MAPI32.old.
  5. Delete "BlackBerry Manager" and "BlackBerry Server" listed in the following registry key:

Warning: Registry changes could potentially result in irreparable damage. Prior to making any Registry changes it is recommended that you perform a Registry backup.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\
  6. Delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange registry key
  7. Install Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects version 1.2.1, which was downloaded in Step 1.
    1. If you receive a message that says: Messaging API and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 cannot be installed with this version of Microsoft Exchange, other Registry keys may need to be removed. The registry keys are documented in the "Use Registry Editor to remove the Exchange registry keys" section of Article ID: 833396, or visit Microsoft Support and search for "How to remove Exchange Server 2003 from your computer".
  8. Recreate the MAPI profile for the BlackBerryServer profile using the BlackBerry Server Configuration utility located by clicking Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Server Configuration > BlackBerry Server tab > Edit MAPI Profile
  9. In the MAPI Profile window, type the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account mailbox (for example, BESAdmin) and the Microsoft Exchange Server name. Click Check Name to verify that the entries resolve successfully.
  10. Recreate the MAPI profile for the BlackBerryManager profile using the Edit MAPI Profile utility located by clicking Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > Edit MAPI Profile
  11. In the MAPI Profile window, type the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account mailbox (for example, BESAdmin) and the Microsoft Exchange Server name. Click Check Name to verify that the entries resolve successfully.
  12. Restart the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services in the following order. The services can be located by navigating to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Important: Restarting the BlackBerry Enterprise Server or its services may delay message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones.
    1. BlackBerry Router
    2. BlackBerry Dispatcher
    3. BlackBerry Controller
    4. All remaining BlackBerry services
    5. Start BlackBerry Manager
